After the successful 3rd edition of the 2011 Maretti Prize at the Center for Contemporary Art Luigi Pecci of Prato, the award decides to start a new adventure in Cuba following the collaborations that were established over the years with the Caribbean island both on the occasion of the Venice Biennale that in the one of Havana. The curator of the Premio in Italy, Raffaele Gavarro, and the director of the Centro Wifredo Lam and the Biennial of Havana, Jorge Fernandez Torres, invite 3 Cuban curators to select 3 Cuban artists. Two young artists are invited, Arlés Del Rìo and Alejandro Campins together with one of the most important and representative Cuban artists, that Lázaro Saavedra who will unanimously win the first Maretti Prize in Cuba. The event will garner an extraordinary success with the public and the small exhibition set up on the ground floor of the Wifredo Lam Center, will be among the most visited events of the XV Week of Italian Culture in Cuba.
