Maretti Editore was founded in 1999 by an editorial project of the journalist and writer Valerio Riva in collaboration and in friendship with Carlo Ripa di Meana. The meeting of both with the top of the future Maretti Editore unleashed organizational synergies and collaborative motivations, above all in the artistic field. The publishing house is specialized in art catalogs, which finds its completeness and purpose with the assiduous and constant collaboration over the years with various Foundations, Cultural Museum institutions, Art Galleries in Italy and not of major importance such as: Giorgio and Isa de Chirico Foundation (Rome), VAF- Stiftung Foundation (MART Museum, Rovereto), Malvina Menegaz Foundation (Castelbasso, Teramo), Fondation Prince Albert II of Monaco (Monaco), Guglielmo Marconi Foundation (Bologna), Concetto Pozzati Foundation (Bologna), GNAM – Gallery of modern and contemporary art, Macro – Museum of Contemporary Art (Rome), Museo Pecci (Prato), Modern Art Gallery (Bologna), Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wifredo Lam (La Habana), Centro Cultural Borges (Buenos Aires). In particular, Maretti Editore followes the publications of all Giorgio de Chirico General Catalogues (I, II, III, IV volumes by now) and the Italian and English editions of “Metaphysical Art – The de Chirico Journals”, a biennial periodical dedicated to recent scholarship on Giorgio de Chirico’s art with contributions by internationally recognized academics as well as a new generation of researchers. Concerning the international art field, the Publishing House has been publishing for years the official catalogue of different National Pavilions attending the Biennale di Venezia (Cuba Pavilion, China Pavilion, Syrian-Arab Pavilion, Kenya Pavilion, Georgia Pavilion) and of many collateral events organized during the period. Maretti Editore has been also present with its books during the ITALIAN WEEK OF CULTURE in Cuba, becoming the official publisher of this event for many present artists and during the 500 hundreds years from the foundation of LA HABANA, its Capital city, Maretti Editore, in collaboration with the Cuban Government, edited an agenda (November 16 2019 – December 2020) to celebrate the event. Since a few years, then, the publishing house has started its personal and original climb to non-fiction writing, focusing on those titles and those editions that demand an overall cultural, life style, social and historical vision in a constantly evolving society. That’s why new editorial lines have been created under this new “impetus”: Scritti d’Artista (thought and wanted by Concetto Pozzati) and efFusioni di Gusto (where art and cooking in Italian Michelin Star restaurants meet and curated by Maria Paola Poponi). Concerning the editorial activity, two important relationships during the years are worthly to be mentioned: the one with the Swiss watch designer (and lastly also artist – painter) Gérald Genta (for whom catalogs and exhibitions have been printed and organized) and the Gio Ponti Association “Amici di Doccia” that asked Maretti Editore follow the important volume about the Maestro during his work for Richard Ginori ceramics in Doccia, near Florence. Lastly, for more than 15 years the Maretti / Valerio Riva Memorial Award, in collaboration with the Valerio Riva Foundation, has received acclaim and success among young and no longer young artists of major importance in the modern and contemporary Italian art scene.
Manfredi Nicolò Maretti, after a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics of Art and Culture and a M.Sc in Arts, Culture, Media and Entertainment (obtained at the L. Bocconi University in Milan), immediately began working in the world of publishing in his family’s company as an editor and then decided to found the publishing house of the same name (Manfredi Edizioni) of which he is now Publishing Director. Specialized in art publishing, Manfredi Edizioni has distinguished itself for several years on the market for the young and competitive ideas of its management, which leave nothing to chance in terms of quality, style and innovation. Consolidated by now the collaboration with Italian and foreign foundations, galleries and museums (Maxxi Museum, Macro Museum, Riso Museum, Foundation VAF-Stiftung, Giorgio and Isa de Chirico Foundation, Wilfredo Lam Center in Havana) and present in the classical and online channels of national and international distribution, the publishing house boasts of publications and editorial series for a more and more enterprising and boundless culture. The book series dedicated to the great names of Italian theater, entitled ArtSipario – leggi il palcoscenico (ArtSipario – read the stage) in collaboration with the scene photographer Tommaso Le Pera, was created by the publisher. A unique project, brave and very successful with the public that boasts the publisher Manfredi the achievement of two awards: the “Premio Ombre della Sera 2019” – Review of the Roman Theatre of Volterra and the “Franco Enriquez Award XV^ edition” in Sirolo. Always in the field of cultural dissemination of ideas and knowledge, Manfredi Nicolò ventures with pillars of the past more or less recent creating the Necklace GRAFIE that collects the testimonies of personalities of cinema (Antonella Lualdi Interlenghi) and history (Margherita Sarfatti). Manfredi Nicoletti has always challenged the crisis of the printed paper and of the world of culture in general, proposing itself as a partner in projects of high communicative and educational value, reducing the costs of publication to ideas and thoughts of great cognitive importance that otherwise would never see the light. Since December 2018, Manfredi Nicolò Maretti is part of the Board of Directors of the Giorgio and Isa de Chirico Foundation in Rome.
